The Case Trail: Catch the Cat Burglar

Five linked murder sudoku cases. Solve each crime scene — the room where the killer was caught gives you one clue initial. Spell the trail, catch the burglar.

CASE №1/5 · 4×4

Witness Statements

No two figures share a row or column. The suspect alone in the victim's room is the killer.

📖 What the statements mean tap to collapse
In a room / NOT in a roomThat suspect's room is fixed (or excluded). Place them there first.
On a rug / Beside a tableWhat the suspect stands on or next to. Rug and table cells are drawn inside rooms.
At a wallOnly the outside edge of the whole board counts. The thin lines between rooms are partitions, not walls.
In a cornerOnly the four corners of the board itself — two outside edges meet there.
Same room as X / Alone with XX is a suspect or the victim. "Alone with" means exactly two figures in that room.
Exactly K figures / Room lockedRoom counts include the victim. "Locked" means nobody was inside.

Case Closed!

Where was the killer standing when the body was found?

How the Case Trail Works

The Case Trail is a five-case murder sudoku story. A Cat Burglar has struck five times, and every crime scene is a logic puzzle in its own right. Each case uses the classic murder sudoku rules: place every suspect on the grid so that no two figures share a row or a column, follow the witness statements, and the suspect left alone in the victim's room is the killer.

  • Solve the scene. Cases 1 and 2 are gentle 4×4 mansions; cases 3 to 5 are trickier 6×6 houses with more suspects and rooms.
  • Point to the room. After every accusation you must name the room where the killer was caught with the victim. Correct answers unlock the next case — and one clue initial.
  • Crack the trail. The five initials, read in order, spell what the Cat Burglar was hunting for. Name it to close the case file for good.
